Acipimox

Description:
Acipimox is a derivative of niacin that is useful as a hypolipidemic agent. Acipimox used in low doses. These drugs inhibit the manufacture and secretion of VLDL triglycerides heart.

Indications:
To reduce LDL cholesterol (low-density lipoproteins) and raise HDL (high-density lipoprotein).

Dosage:
250 mg by mouth (orally), 2-3 times a day
Maximum dose: 1250 mg / day

Side Effects:
Reddish, cause itching, rash, GI effects (heartburn, epigastric pain, intoxication, etc.), headaches.

Special Instructions:
Not recommended in patients with stomach ulcers.
Use with caution in patients with kidney damage.
