Addiction is a progressive, chronic relapsing disorders include symptoms mainly compulsions, uncontrollable and continuous use of alcohol and or other drugs despite adverse
(Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration).

INTRODUCTION
Between myth and reality, life in society has become addicted to the stigma that "Once the addiction is still addiction". They continued to use heroin will become addicted to behave (addict). In those who stop and start the recovery process must remember that when they use it again evoke disease of addiction. Therapy and recovery of heroin dependence is a very long process.

Rarely aware of the willingness of addicts who decided that one day will stop the habit of using heroin and will not use again. Most addicts should be forced to follow the therapy if it was related legal problems, the intervention of family members and friends, or tribulation force to change lives.

When addicts are confronted to control the use of heroin is the tendency to fail and uncontrolled then generally their response: "I know that I am in trouble, but I do not want to stop all this, I want to learn first how to use it only on holidays".

Here is a partial picture of the disease of addiction in the form of rejection reactions. Much like someone who was first diagnosed with malignant disease, "I might not have cancer." Someone heroin addict must go through various processes, often require several attempts before the therapy can overcome addiction and they can live without heroin.

SOME MODEL DEPENDENCE RECOVERY THERAPY
Model Lexington Kentucky (Public Health Service Narcotic Hospital)
In 1935 in the United States is a combination of hospital facilities, agriculture and prisons. Most patients were men who were imprisoned for Harrison Narcotics regulations. A small percentage of patients seek treatment themselves and are encouraged to follow therapy for 6 months.

At that experts describe as individual addicts who suffer from inferiority complex (inferiority complex) and using medications to reduce or cover up the feelings experienced interference. Furthermore, therapies designed 3 phase covering the first phase of detoxification, the second phase provides the skills, discipline and mental and physical build, the last phase of preparing the addict back to life in society.
Research in 1965 (John O'Donnell) gets around 80% of addicts relapse.

Synanon and the therapeutic community model
Beginning of the 50's a drug addict group agreed together to form Synanon, the one that started the therapy community in Visalia California. Group is led by Charles Dederich a narcotics addict who believes that the addict is better treated without the help of medication and psychiatric therapy.

Synanon referring to the Alcoholics Anonymous / AA and to design specific therapy when faced with manipulative behavior of heroin addicts (aggressive therapy group). Group relying only to counselors and leaders who are former addicts among them. This method is the forerunner model of therapeutic community in response to the health care system is not able to help drug addicts heavy (hard core heroin addict). This therapy model to be used as a tactic known as a superior to deal with the behavior of addicts. Synanon was developed in the 60s and was declared as a treatment of heroin dependence.

Twelve steps
As Synanon, other narcotic dependency group in Southern California found "Narcotic Anonymous / NA" in 1953 which have a common principle that is healing itself. Which contains 12 measures to overcome dependence. The main difference with AA is that addiction is viewed as a disease (disease of addiction) so it does not emphasize on the specific substance abuse. Any change in mood that trigger the use of substances should be prevented

12 steps of healing:

  1. We recognize that we are powerless over alcohol and our lives become disorganized.

  2. Believing in the power greater than ourselves could restore sanity.

  3. Making the decision to turn our will and lives to the protection of God as we understand it.

  4. Make searching and fearless moral attitudes into our own.

  5. Admitted to God, themselves and others how wrong we are.

  6. Completely prepares the Lord will restore damaged characters.

  7. Humble heart to ask Him to remove all our shortcomings.

  8. Make a list of everyone who ever hurt us and begin to fix it.

  9. Correcting / apologize whenever possible except when going to hurt them or others.

  10. Introspection on an ongoing basis and when we do wrong promptly admitted it.

  11. Seek through prayer and meditation to improve our belief in God as we understand it, pray only to find out what He wants for us and ask for strength to carry it out.

  12. Having a spiritual consciousness as a result of these steps. We tried to carry this message to alcoholics and implement in all the problems we face.

Now this drug treatment, sex addiction / eating / gambling and many other therapies which refers to the 12-step principles. 12 steps there is a way for people with dependency. So no doubt the 12-step principles of AA and have great impact on the recovery process of millions of people around the world.

Hazelden model and Minessota
Hazelden recovery focused psychological, spiritual, medical, and social sides of addiction. Teaching core addicts is to rely on the AA handbook for inspiration and guidance and demonstrate how a spiritual life are delivered directly through the 12 steps. At the addict to leave the rehab center Hazelden recommend half way house where addicts can live anywhere within a few months to years. Hazelden asserts that the key to success relies on to stop using drugs, to build family relationships with addicts in recovery, giving enough time to myself to stay away from drugs and changing living habits, and follow the instructions of people in AA / NA.
